Porthleven Food Festival - April 21st

A one day festival attracting in excess of 12,000 people who converge on the tiny fishing village to enjoy over eighty food stalls showcasing Cornish food producers along with music and entertainment. The festival’s ethos is to fight the war against food wastefulness and rediscover a world of eating and the resulting pleasures we’ve forgotten.

The festival not only hosts the very best of Cornish food producers but also has a full program of entertainment including live bands, buskers, dancers, performance artists, art auctions, fancy-dress, a skate jam, a roller derby, a circus Big Top with tuition in circus skills, a Hog Roast, a Beef Barbecue and local history exhibitions, all of which make up a fantastic, free family day out!

During the festival you can sample some great local food, learn how to create wonderful dishes demonstrated by local chefs, see fishmongers expertly filleting and preparing freshly caught fish and join in the multitude of activities taking place around Porthleven’s picturesque harbour. On the Sunday you’re invited to a “Leftover Lunch” in the main marquee. Bring a plate of food and a knife and fork and sit down at a long table for a gigantic picnic.

Titanic the Musical at The Minnack

A couple of lovely guests recently went to see this show and couldn’t recommend it enough:

“In the early hours of April 11, 1912, TITANIC sailed past the piece of Cornish coast where Minack now stands on passage from Cherbourg to Queenstown. The final performance will begin at 10.20pm on April 14 concluding in the early hours of April 15. Events in the play will take place exactly 100 years after the ‘Ship Of Dream’s met its fate.

The musical play TITANIC examines the causes, the conditions and the characters involved in this ever-fascinating drama. This is the factual story of that ship, of her officers, crew and passengers, but she does not serve as merely the background against which fictional, melodramatic narratives are recounted. The central character of this show is the TITANIC herself.”

To give people an idea of our location I thought I’d post up this pic I tool on my phone a while ago. I think it perfectly demonstrates where we are how good our views are.
